Adah, Biblical Figure
Adah, Wife of First Polygamist
Adah is one of Lamech’s polygamous wives. She is mentioned first in the Bible (Genesis 4:19 KJV). The name Adah is a common name in Hebrew origin that may mean many things. One of those is “ornament”.
Adah is the mother of Jabal, father of who dwelt in the tents or raises cattle, and Jubal, father of such who handle the harp and organ (Genesis 4:20-21). Adah’s existence has no concrete date in the Bible. She is placed on the Biblical Timeline, between 4004 BC (Adam’s creation) and 2350 BC (the Great Flood).
